Climbing Oldonyo Lengai: A Journey from Arusha to the Sacred Mountain

Our adventure began in Arusha, a vibrant city in northern Tanzania, full of energy and the perfect launch point for our journey. Together with my good friend Walter, we set out with excitement, ready to explore one of Tanzania’s most unique and sacred places – Oldonyo Lengai, the “Mountain of God.”

From Arusha, we headed to the Serengeti, where we were blessed with breathtaking views, endless plains, and wildlife encounters we’ll never forget. The Serengeti truly lives up to its name – wild, free, and full of life. Each sunset there painted the sky in golden hues, making us even more grateful for this incredible trip.

Finally, we made it to Oldonyo Lengai, the majestic active volcano sacred to the Maasai people. The climb was tough – steep, rocky, and at times exhausting – but the view from the top was absolutely beautiful. Watching the sunrise over the Great Rift Valley from that summit was something we’ll carry in our hearts forever.

This journey wasn’t just about reaching a destination. It was about experiencing the soul of Tanzania, facing the challenge of the climb, and sharing unforgettable moments between friends.
