Barafu Camp is the final high-altitude campsite on Mount Kilimanjaro before the summit attempt. Located on a rocky, windswept ridge, it serves as the base for the midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak. The camp offers dramatic views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding alpine desert, while allowing trekkers to rest, prepare gear, and acclimatize before summit night. Due to its exposed location, conditions can be cold and challenging, making it one of the most demanding but important camps on the mountain.
