Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your Arusha hotel, followed by a scenic drive to Lake Natron. The journey, though long, offers picturesque views of local Maasai communities and African wildlife. Arrive at Lake Natron Camp after lunch for check-in, then embark on a guided walking tour to the Ngare Sero Waterfall. This trail winds through a gorge, requiring occasional stream crossings, so sandals are recommended. Later, enjoy a drive to the lakeshore to capture the breathtaking scenery before returning to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Ol Doinyo Lengai
Rise at 1:00 a.m. for a thrilling climb up Ol Doinyo Lengai. Your driver will take you to the volcano’s base, where you’ll begin a strenuous 7- to 12-hour trek, depending on your fitness. The steep slopes demand caution, especially in the dark, so stay close to your guide. Pause every 100 meters to acclimatize, and enjoy a breakfast break to recharge. At the crater’s edge (2,960 m), witness the mesmerizing sound of flowing lava within the "Mountain of God." The descent requires care to avoid injuries, and swapping your fleece for a sun hat at dawn helps prevent heatstroke.
